The Police prosecutor, who was represented by Corporal Evborhuan
Kingsley, from the Family Unit of the State Police Command, disclosed
that the suspects identified as Egbai Kenneth, 26, Paul Aghama, 22 and
Osemwegie Jeffery, from Edo State School of Nursing, were arraigned on
two counts bordering on indecent assault.
He told the court that the accused committed the offence 'between
the months of March and May 2015,' on the premises of the school hostel
on Sapele Road.
According to him, "The suspects used their nails to penetrate the
victim’s vagina. They committed an offence punishable under Section 360
of the Criminal Code, Cap 48, Vol. II, Law of the defunct Bendel State
of Nigeria, 1976, now applicable in Edo State."
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. M. Adebanjo, granted them bail in the sum of N300, 000 each, with one surety each in like sum, stressing that the sureties must be Edo State civil servants of grade level nine and above.
