Police Arrest Two Over Alleged Assault of Vice-Principal

Police in Enugu have foiled an attempted plan of conspiracy to kill a vice-principal in a Girls Secondary School in the state

Police in Enugu rescued a man while being lynched by some natives over alleged stealing of property belonging to Government Girls Secondary School, Aguobu Owa, Ezeagu Council, Enugu State.
The victim, Mr. Kenneth Jideofor a vice-principal in the school was alleged to have stolen property belonging to the Secondary School by one Rose Igwebuike who had conspired with some people to accuse the victim of stealing the property.

According to the Police, two persons have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of the secondary school Vice Principal. A statement form the Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu, Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the incident. Amaraizu explained that the Vice Principal was a victim of conspiracy.

In his words, Police (PPRO) said: “Kenneth Jideofor, the vice principal of Government Girls Secondary school Aguobu Owa in Ezeagu Local Council of Enugu State, was allegedly taken to a shrine at Ozom Aguobu Owa where he was made to take an oath.

"He was later brought to the market square at Afor Ugwu where he was allegedly stripped and thereafter beaten to stupor and abandoned before he was rescued through the assistance of a good Nigerian who was passing towards the direction he was lying.”

Amaraizu continued: “The incident happened on October 6, 2015 at about 5:00pm. The principal of the school, one Rose Igwebuike, had allegedly conspired with some members of the school’s Parents Teachers Association (PTA) committee as well as some school security men and took hold of the victim on the ground that he allegedly stole some school property and took him to the shrine to swear an oath and thereafter stripped him naked at the market square where he was given the beating of his life.”

The two persons arrested in connection with the incident are being investigated to get to the root of the matter. The police in the state appealed to the public to be vigilant and security conscious warning against collection of gift items from strangers, saying it might have been drugged.

This followed a recent incident where a driver became unconscious after consuming fruit juice drink and meat-pie given to him by a passenger who later escaped with the vehicle. He said his men are alert to foil any attempt that will put the lives of people at risk.
