Ibrahim Lamorde (Punch)
The Senate has hinted that the probe of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss, Ibrahim Lamorde will continue after the ministerial screening.
This was revealed to Punch Newspapers, by the Chairman,
Senate ad-hoc committee on media and publicity, Senator Dino Melaye.
Punch Newspapers reports that Melaye said “There
is a petition against the EFCC boss before the Senate Committee on
Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions. Further action was stalled
because of the ongoing ministerial screening especially with the active
involvement of the committee in the screening.”
This is coming on the heels of a letter purportedly written by the Federal
Ministry of Justice, ordering the EFCC into allegations that the
Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim
Lamorde laundered about N1trillion in funds recovered from corrupt individuals by the agency.
