The senator representing the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Yobe North constituency of Yobe State, Ahmed Lawan today (Wednesday, November 11) led other law makers out of a plenary in protest.
Lawan alongside former Governor of Benue State George Akume led other senators to walk out in protest of the decision of Senate President Bukola Saraki to allow his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu to preside over plenary in his absence.
The Senate president was at the Presidential Villa attending the swearing-in of new ministers by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Punch, the protesting senators, (four in number) left the sitting to their various offices in the new senate wing.
Lawan
and George Akume it could be recalled were favoured by the APC to
emerge as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively at
the May 9 inauguration of the Senate.
