Court orders DSS to allow ex-NSA travel abroad for treatment

Former NSA, Sambo Dasuki

The Abuja Federal High Court has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to allow former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki to travel abroad for medical attention.
The judgment was given today, November 13, 2015, by presiding judge, Justice A‎demola Adeniyi.
“Court orders must be obeyed. What is wrong in the defendant travelling and coming back to face trial?” Adeniyi said according to Vanguard.

“Only a fit person can stand for trial and investigation. My own orders will not be flouted,” he added.
The court had, on November 3, 2015, ruled that Dasuki beallowed to travel to London for three weeks on health grounds.
The former NSA’s trip was however further stalled after DSS operatives invaded his home on November 5 to prevent him from leaving the country.
The incident led to a war of words between the DSS and Dasuki with the latter approaching the court to claim that his life was in danger.
Dasuki is facing charges of illegal arms possession and money laundering.
The former NSA’s troubles began in July after he was removed by President Muhammadu Buhari and saw his homes in Abuja and Sokoto raided by officials of the DSS.
