Court Remands Cable Thief In Osun

For allegedly stealing cables and electrical materials, a 24-year-old man, Taofik Waliu, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command.
The accused person was said to have committed the crime on November 3, 2015 at BCGA area of Osogbo, when he allegedly broke into a store belonging to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
According to a statement issued by the head of Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the NSCDC, Mr Wale Folarin, the accused person was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and felony.
He stated that the accused person conspired with one Sunday Isiaka now at large to commit felony, to wit stealing of cables, copper wire and aluminium conductor valued at N38, 325, property of the IBEDC.
“The accused person committed an offence contrary to section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. 2 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2001 and punishable under section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. 2 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2001”, he said.
The accused person who pleaded not guilty was ordered to be remanded in Ilesa prison by Magistrate Olusola Aluko, while the case was adjourned for hearing.
