DJ Khaled released his eighth studio album “I Changed A Lot” on October 23, 2015. This is the first release from the American record producer since he left Birdman's Cash Money Records

The 16-track album features prominent stars. The most reoccurring thing on the project is the multiple appearances by the same artist on the album. Rick Ross (5), Future (5), French Montana (3), Chris Brown (3), August Alsina (2), Meek Mill (2), Jadakiss (2), Jeremih (2) and Acehood (2). 

The hip-hop beat maker starts off the album with a lot of energy. We know the DJ doesn’t play with his money; Rick Ross and Future back him up on ‘I don’t play about my paper’ in stressing this. The energy continues on track two with ‘I Ride’. This tempo is toned down with track 3 with a hood lust themed song ‘Gold Slugs’. 

 

Creating hip-hop music is one of Khaled’s main expertise as such the album encompasses this genre of music. Interestingly, the album has a refreshing twist with ‘My league’ featuring Movado. The song stands out because of its summer reggae vibe. 

“I Changed A Lot” is all about the money, women, being loyal and the flashy lifestyle. There’s a lot of bragging in the lyrics. Surprisingly, the radio producer gives credit to God on ‘Most high’.

One interesting thing on the album is how the artists address the transition from living in the hood to living a better life. This is on ‘They don’t love you no more’ which features French Montana, Jay Z and Meek Mill. The rap acts share the realities of their life.
