The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, said his men have not killed any Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) protester, as speculated in the social media.
Arase said his men cannot kill people who are exercising their Constitutional rights.
According to Punch Newspapers, Arase said “The Nigeria Police Force is conscious of the rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association amongst others as enshrined in Chapter Four of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended), and cannot afford to maim or kill citizens exercising these right.”
He also asked state police chiefs to always provide adequate security for citizens who embark on rallies.
