The world premiere of Genevieve Nnaji's movie "Road to Yesterday," held at the closing night of the 2015 African International Film Festival.
During a press conference for the movie, the actress spoke on Nollywood movies making it to the Oscars.
According to the actress,
the Academy Awards isn't her benchmark.
"The Oscars is not my benchmark," the actress said. "The Hollywood has done very good for themselves. I'm trying to build that here."
"I'm trying to build an industry that can stand by itself. Award ourselves, credit ourselves, and appreciate ourselves.
I hope they realize that there's an industry worth recognizing. We need to accept us first."
Adding to the what the actress said, her co-star Erhuerho said; "I want the industry to be a force to be reckoned with."
'Road to Yesterday' stars Nigerian-British actor, Oris Erhuerhoas ‘Izu’ the burly husband and father, and Genevieve Nnaji as ‘Victoria’ the conflicted wife and mother.
