Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation(SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim has been accused of funding the ongoing pro-Biafra protests in the Eastern part of the country.
According to Sahara Reporters, Anyim is currently under investigation over the allegations.
The funds allegedly used to fund the protests were supposedly taken from the coffers of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) while the former SGF was in office.
Anyim had earlier also been accused of fraudulently acquiring shares in the Abuja Centenary City project.
The pro-Biafra protests have intensified in the past month and turned violent in Onitsha, Anambra State on Tuesday, December 2, 2015, after 9 people died from bullet wounds.
The ongoing agitations are believed to have been sparked off by the arrest of Radio Biafra boss, Nnamdi Kanu by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Kanu was arrested at a hotel in Lagos on October 17, and reportedly granted bail but never freed.
He was arraigned in an Abuja court on November 23 and the case was adjourned till December 1.
Meanwhile, the DSS is seeking to charge Kanu with terrorism after it accused him of participating in and sponsoring terrorist acts.
