Nigeria's national assembly approved a supplementary budget for 2015 of 574.53 billion naira ($2.89 billion) to cover mainly fuel subsidy payments, a statement said on Tuesday.
The amount is 108.9 billion naira more than PresidentMuhammadu Buhari requested in November.
Lawmakers said the rise is to take care of fuel subsidy payments for the remaining months of the financial year that the president did not capture in his request.
