Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakarhas said that he will continue to pay the N18,000 minimum wage to workers in the state.
Abubakar made the comment on Thursday, December 3, 2015, during a meeting with permanent secretaries and directors from all ministries and agencies in the state, Leadership reports.
“We are all aware of the shortfall of federal allocation due to the sharp reduction of oil price, and according to international economic analysts the bad days for oil price may last long, up to next two years, so we must put a measure,” the governor said.
Abubakar’s comments come after some state governors, under the umbrella of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) said that they could no longer afford to pay the minimum wage.
