A 40-year-old man, Nurudeen Sulaiman was on Friday arraigned in an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly snatching a bag containing items valued at N 11,800.
The accused, of no fixed address, is facing a charge of stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Famous Edigue, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 3, at about 4:30 a.m., at Revelation Christ Gospel Church, Iporo Ake.
Edigue said that the accused snatched the bag of one Miss Taiwo Adebayo, which contained two phones, a Bible and the sum of N280, all valued at N11,800.
He said that Adebayo, who went for a vigil, was still standing in front of the church when the accused snatched her bag.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2009.
Following an application, the magistrate, Mr Babajide Ilo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till Dec. 20.
