The Vehicle Owners Association of Nigeria, VOAN, today Thursday reinstated its objectives of boosting the transport and automobile sector of the country, particularly now that the country is facing security challenges that need people to come together in association to form a formidable force and voice against such challenges.

Speaking in Abuja at the official launching and inaugural ceremony of the association, former Senate President, Dr. Joseph Wayas, who served as Chairman of the occasion, stated the VOAN was out to partner with the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIO and the Police, to ensure the vehicle owners in Nigeria and their drivers enjoy excellent experience through sound knowledge and regulatory compliance culture building.
According to him, “The VOAN is out to boost the Transport and Automobile Sector of the country especially coming at a time when our dear country is facing security challenges that need people to come together in association to form a formidable force and voice against such evil vis-a-vis other needs.
“Today, I look back with nostalgia when we muted the idea and formed the Directorate of the road Traffic Services or what we called the VIO back then during the Second Republic.
“VOAN as a social welfare group in the long run shall lead to the creation of employments for young Nigerians and add value to our socio-economic well-being,” Wayas affirmed.
Also speaking, national president of the association, Odo Vincent Okoko, said, “VOAN like other similar associations around the world was founded to promote the growth and welfare of members and the Transport & Automobile Sector of the economy of our dear country.
“The VOAN is with over 20 million potential members to facilitate the new regime of improved transportation system, Vehicle Owners welfare and others to curb human right abuses against Vehicle Owners by road users, Safe monitoring culture and practice in Nigeria through Advocacy, Collaboration with some Government and non-Governmental Agencies, taking advantage of the cutting edge technological development in the online environment.”
Okoko further stated that the very core existence of the association is to ensure balanced national legislative, regulatory and fiscal policy to provide the enabling framework and environment for effective transportation system in the country.
