22-yr-old fleeing Boko Haram member arrested

Following a tip-off, Muktar, 22, was arrested on February 25, at Kara – Mowe area of Ogun state.

A fleeing Boko Haram member, Umaru Muktar, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command, The Nationreports.

Following a tip-off, Muktar, 22, was arrested on February 25, at Kara – Mowe area of Ogun state.
The terrorist, who hails from
Gonge, Maiduguri in Borno state, was paraded today, March 7, at the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) Headquarters at Magbon, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
According to the Commissioner of Police in the state,AbdulMajid Ali, the insurgent has confessed to being a Boko Haram member.
Ali disclosed that Muktar fled Maiduguri two and half years ago into Ogun and was initiated into the sect by one Mustapha.
He said exchange of intelligence between the Ogun state Command and Borno state police unit, with  assistance of members of the Hausa community in Kara, Ogun state, facilitated Muktar's identification and arrest.
Speaking through an interpreter, the terrorist said he flew Borno when the security agencies intensified manhunt for Boko Haram member. But declined comment when newsmen asked him if he was part of some the attacks carried out on churches, mosques, markets and motor-parks.
