Man, 26, in court for allegedly assaulting ex-lover

A 26-year-old unemployed man, Tayo Olaojo, was on Friday docked at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly assaulting his ex-lover.

The accused, of unknown address, is facing a charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 5 around 9:00 p.m., at No. 14 Olumide St., Torikoh area of Badagry.
Uko said that the accused assaulted the complainant, one Miss Sandra Mathias by beating her with a stick.
“The accused and the victim were engaged in a heated argument over money, and he started beating her with a stick.

“The victim is presently in the hospital receiving treatment,’’ he said.
Uko said that the offence contravenes Section 171 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Abayomi Ade, pleaded with the court to grant his client bail since the offence is bailable.
The Magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000 and a surety who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Etti adjourned the case till May 25 for further hearing.
