The Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited, on Thursday, April 14, 2016, discharged 28 million litres of petrol in a bid to end the fuel scarcity being experienced in the country.
According to the management of the refinery, the move was part of a fast track strategy to resolve the petrol shortage, Daily Trust reports.
The Managing Director of the company, Dr Bafred Audu Enjugu also said that 1.7 million litres were released to the depot last Friday, another 4.5 million litres on Saturday and 4.08 million litres on Tuesday.
Enjugu also said that the refinery would continue to produce products for local consumption.
The scarcity is expected to ease further as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced that the Kaduna refinery will also begin operations by next week.
