Transgender, Angela Ponce
A transgender model lost out in the final dashing her hopes of being the first transsexual to be crowned Miss World Spain. Angela Ponce, 23, represented Cadiz in the beauty pageant and was the first transsexual contestant in the country. She said she knew from an early age that she was "different".
She became a 'complete woman' last year after completing an extensive hormone therapy that transformed her once masculine body into that of a woman.
The young beauty remained upbeat after the final on Sunday in the city of Estepona, in Malaga, saying: "As far as I’m concerned I’m a winner. I have the regional crown on my head and I will keep fighting to make us seen, to make us heard and to demonstrate that I am already a queen with my own crown. My battle continues."
The crown was won by the stunning model Mireia Lalaguna, Miss Barcelona, with Miss Asturias Angela Gonzalez as runner-up
