The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday, November confirmed the
death of a policeman who was found dead in his Volkswagen car in Ikeja.
Empty cans of pesticide and some medication, suspected to have been taken by the deceased, were reportedly found inside the car.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO), DSP Joseph Offor, the policeman was said to be attached to
Safer Highways Patrol in Lagos.
The statement read: “The Lagos State Police Command wishes to
confirm the story that a policeman, Cpl. Agi Elias, with force No.
386982, was found dead in his Volkswagen Passat car."
“The car, with Registration No. 489 AY, was parked at the
entrance gate of High Barracks, Ikeja, today, Nov. 10, 2015 by 0730hrs.
“The Cpl., Agi Elias, until his sudden death was attached to
Safer Highway Patrol, Lagos but on Corporal to Sergaent promotion course
at Police Training School (PTS), Ikeja.
“The aforesaid course came to an end Nov. 9, 2015.
“Preliminary investigations carried out so far revealed that
tablets and some poisonous substances littered around his corpse, while
still inside his car.
“His body has been recovered and deposited at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) mortuary.
“The investigation of the case has been taken over by the
Homicide section of SCID, Yaba, with a view to ascertaining the cause of
his death,’’ the statement added.
