Unlocking a 150-Year Old Math Puzzle! Nigerian Professor Opeyemi Enoch Reportedly Unravels the Riemann Hypothesis & Wins $1,000,000

Dr.-Opeyemi-Enoch

Dr. Opeyemi Enoch was reported to have solved one of the world’s important math problems – theRiemann Hypothesis. The Riemann Hypothesis is one of the seven millennium problems in mathematics  and had gone unsolved for over 150 years until Dr. Enoch came along from Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.

According to the report in Daily Mail, “The Riemann Hypothesis was proposed by mathematician Bernard Riemann in 1859 and concerns the distribution of prime numbers.
It has become arguably the most famous problem in mathematics, since Fermat’s Last Theorem was solved in the 1990s.”
The Clay Mathematical Institute explains the problem: The prime number theorem determines the average distribution of the primes. The Riemann Hypothesis tells us about the deviation from the average. Formulated in Riemann’s 1859 paper, it asserts that all the ‘non-obvious’ zeros of the zeta function are complex numbers with real part 1/2.”
Listen to Dr. Enoch talk to the BBC about this feat: {Click here} The solution to this problem comes with a $1,000,000 prize.
Congratulations Professor! We hope the BellaNaija readers are inspired by this news and get encouraged to explore unchartered regions such as this!
