A permanent injunction has been granted against a Missoula man charged with defrauding investors.
Following a brief hearing on Thursday, Judge Mike Menahan granted a motion by Office of the Montana State Auditor to freeze the assets of Matthew Mcclintock, otherwise known as Michael Willis.
McClintock, who failed to appear at the hearing citing medical problems, has been charged with felony theft and three counts of fraudulent practices.
Investigators with the Office of the Montana State Auditor say McClintock has portrayed himself as a film producer, raising money for a documentary about the American west narrated by Clint Eastwood.
Deputy securities commissioner Lynne Egan says McClintock was spending the money on himself.
"Mr. Willis wrote checks to himself or removed a substantial amount of money in cash," Egan said. "He spent money to cover overdraft fees of almost $500 and spent a substantial amount on beverages, entertainment and dining."
According to the state auditor's office McClintock has prior felony convictions for securities fraud in Oklahoma and deceptive practices in Montana.
