President Muhammadu Buhari has debunked rumours that he and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are at loggerheads with the National leader of the Party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media
and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari said such rumours were unfounded and
mischievous.
He insisted that he was in constant communication with Tinubu
before, during and after the Ondo governorship election last weekend.
Buhari hailed Tinubu as a priceless political asset to the party
and said the presidency and APC leadership was not working to destroy the
former Governor of Lagos State.
The statement read: “President Buhari commended Tinubu’s spirit of
comradeship in promptly congratulating Rotimi Akeredolu who was elected
Governor.
“The President also noted that at a time his administration is
preoccupied with governance issues, rumours of divisions and alleged scheming
within the party are counterproductive to internal unity and cohesion in APC.”
He also appealed to APC members and supporters to ignore rumours
that could harm the ruling party’s unity.
