Boko Haram Must Be Defeated – Tinubu

BOLA TINUBU

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Thursday said the country’s major challenge was terrorism, saying the nation has no option than to ensure that the Boko Haram terrorist sect were conquered.

Tinubu, who stated this at the commissioning of the Mile 12 – Ikorodu BRT extension and formal flag off of the bus operation at Majidun, Ikorodu said the major challenge in the country right now was Boko Haram insurgency, saying there was the need for people to be security conscious.
He said, “The major challenge facing this country at the moment is Boko Haram. They must be defeated. But we should not forget that we cannot unilaterally kill all the insurgents. This is because they are faceless. As we displace them, they are moving to other parts of the country as innocent individuals. So everyone must be alert. Report any strange person in your neighborhood to the police. They are part of the armed robbers, kidnappers and others. So the security of densely populated city like Lagos must be well improved upon. We all must be vigilant.
“Leaders in community must be involved in the security of their domain. It is important for everyone to be involved in security of the state. Even if the security officials couldn’t get it, we should discover it and bring it to their notice.
“The need for the urban renewal and elimination of poverty is our own. We all must support the government to fight poverty. And we can only do this through the maintenance of these buses. We have to embrace peace, stability and discipline in Lagos State.”
While commissioning the project, the Lagos State governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, said that the newly commissioned Mile 12 – Ikorodu BRT extension and formal flag off of the bus operation was a celebration of the delivery of world – class transport infrastructure that would bring comfort and convenience to commuters in the state, particularly to residents of Ikorodu and those who use the road to connect other parts of the state and beyond.
He said about 438 buses were commissioned to go into business immediately, describing the project as a milestone in public transportation system in Lagos State.
